This year’s trip to New York City was one I’ll never forget — not just because of the incredible education and inspiration at Intercoiffure, but because I had the joy of introducing three of our stylists to New York for the very first time. For Shanna, Kerriana and Brynn, it was especially meaningful — they were finalists in the Nouveau Photo Competition, This years theme Rock an d Roll an annual event that celebrates creativity and artistry in our industry. To see their names among the top 10 finalists was such a proud moment for all of us at Vann Studio. Our team — Jess, Antonio, Hatsumi, and myself — had the best time showing the newer stylists around the city. From dinner at Carmine’s in Times Square to late-night cheesecake and milkshakes at Junior’s, we soaked in every moment together. These shared experiences reminded us how important it is to step away from our daily routine and reconnect as a team.
The Intercoiffure show itself was deeply inspiring — filled with artistry, innovation, and passion. It reignited our love for this industry and reminded us why we do what we do. I came back to Seattle feeling more energized than ever, especially seeing how our younger stylists discovered new paths for their own growth. One highlight of the trip was being part of Beyond the Ponytail’s look and learn and also October launch, where we were invited to present on stage and showcase a beautiful textured haircut. Launching Haircut month of Oct. Sharing that creative moment with the larger community of stylists was an absolute honor. What I love most about trips like this is how they blend education, artistry, and heart. Intercoiffure connects us with other like-minded, professional, and sustainable salons who share our commitment to craftsmanship and green beauty. It reminds us that our purpose goes beyond hair — it’s about helping people feel good, building community, and doing things differently.
From our work with The Beyond Project, to Pure Seattle and our continued involvement in the Belltown Art Walk, we’re proud to be a salon that creates beauty with purpose.
We’ve also recently welcomed six new stylists to the Vann Studio team — a true blessing and a sign that our mission resonates with others. I can’t wait for next year’s Intercoiffure in New York, when we’ll bring even more of our team along to experience it all together.
This trip was more than just professional development — it was a reminder of why we love this craft, this community, and each other.
